December 2021 - Part 5 - Washington DC Part 3

12-24-21  We began the day by visiting the Jefferson Memorial.  Then we visited the Holocaust Museum. It was a very moving and somber place.  It brought back memories of college when I was a foreign exchange student in Germany.  I toured the Anne Frank House Museum as well as the concentration camp Bergen-Belsen while in Germany.  Next, we stopped by the Smithsonian Castle for some pics and some lunch. Then we stopped by the Eisenhower Memorial.  After that we went to the Museum of the Bible.  For dinner we picked up pizza on our way home.  After dinner, we played Skip Bo and watched some of the Harry Potter Marathon on TV!

12-25-21 We started the day by walking the Mall to see the Monuments!  We had lunch at the Food Trucks again!  Then we walked around the Capitol building, the Supreme Court and Library of Congress.  To end the day we had dinner in the room from the hotel restaurant.  

December 2021 - Part 4 - Washington DC Part 2

12-23-21 We started out the morning with a Metro ride and a bus ride to Mount Vernon!!!  As soon as we got there we took a guided mansion tour.  Then we took a self guided tour around the rest of the grounds.  Then it was time for the museum part of the trip as well as lunch and buying souvenirs from the gift shop.  We went by Metro to Dupont Circle but the fountain was under construction to go by a used bookstore.  We finished the day eating at The Hamilton which had fabulous food!
