6-16-13 Father's Day

We didn't celebrate big this year, but Jacen's Sunday School teachers are fantastic, and he got to give some stuff to Daddy from Sunday School.

Jacen and I went to Story Time at the Library the week before Father's Day.  After story time, they decorated picture frames and colors pictures for Daddy :)

T-Ball Practices

Some of our friends in our Sunday School class started a T-Ball team that plays in the summer in the LCAA league.  Monday (6-3-13) was the first practice.  Jacen wasn't too sure and had to be convinced by Kristin to go back out on the field.  He was tired, hungry, and hot in addition to having his 4 year old shots that morning.  Oops!!  Thank you Kristin!

6-4-13 South Plains Children's Memorial Garden Dedication

Through donations by Hospice of Lubbock, Covenant Hospital, and private donors and land set aside on Lubbock Christian University campus, there is now a South Plains Children's Memorial Garden.  The dedication allowed us to get together with other families who have lost children, say something about our precious children, and place the rock in the garden.  Our special friends Tim, Lisa, and Kelsie Day were there to dedicate Kelsie's twin's rock as well.

4th Birthday Part 2

Jacen decided this year that he didn't want presents for his birthday, but rather he wanted his friends to bring stuffed animals or books to donate to Covenant Children's Hospital.  He has a heart for sick kids.  He still talks about Nathan being in the hospital and even talks about NICU.
He got to deliver the books, stuffed animals, and extra puzzles we had for the party favors to one of the Child Life Specialists at Covenant named Katie.  She even let him go to the Pedi floor and deliver a puzzle to a patient.  She took pics for us to see, but for confidentiality reasons we won't post those here.  Thank you to all who donated books and stuffed animals!!   We appreciate your helping our precious son who has such a kind heart.

We also celebrated Nathan with three balloons.  One from each of us, but of course Jacen wanted to let them all go :)
And a cupcake with four candles

And Jacen left him a car because he wanted to give Nathan a present too.  Unfortunately, he was frustrated with us because he has figured out leaving it at the gravesite it won't get to Nathan.  He wanted to figure out how to get it to Nathan like the balloons do :(

I also spent time reading books to Nathan and Jacen like I used to get to.

As always, their birthday is bittersweet.  Thank you to all who helped make it special again this year!
